A Quick And Simple Method To Plan Your Day
As I moved to digital planning, I realized I wanted something more than a task list rewrite. I played around with daily plan bars, but it wasn’t what I needed.
(I wish I could recall where I saw this method, so I could give credit due; if you know what it is, let me know and I will update this article).
So what I settled on was a small little box, two rows, with 12 columns. 24 hours in all. Then every day I mark out what is going to happen in sleep, work and any other commitments. Then I color code my tasks to the hours so I know what I am targeting during what time period. Here is a shot from my bullet journal:
I first color in my sleep time, then my work time. Then I fill in other activities that will take time, such as exercise. Then I can plan what I will do based on where I am; in the example, I knew I had time while dinner cooked and so I wanted to finish putting things back in place in my room, and run the Roomba in there (after a flooring change this past weekend). Now it is later in the day, and I am seeing what is left. I will work on my articles, and then do my other activities.
The approach is very simple, but it is helping me get more of my task list done than I have managed in a long time.
