Productivity Hacks Are Distractions, Not Helps

True productivity isn’t about shaving off time. It’s not about the notebooks, the software, the pens or the stickers.

But people, including myself, are always looking for a better way.

The problem is that productivity hacks are distractions. They keep you from doing the real work as you look for that better way.

The truth is, productivity isn’t sexy. It’s not about the coolest layout, the latest software, or anything other than the work.

It’s also not difficult.

You already know everything you need to know to get things done. You just need to stop being distracted and get to work.

Productivity is about understanding your mind, to understand what will motivate you to get things done. It is about understanding what is standing in your way, and how to get around those things.

There are no tools that will replace the amount of thinking that has to be done.

So the next time you start following those links to look for a better way to do things, ask yourself if this is just a distraction from getting work done.
