It’s been proven that the cost of pulling your focus away and setting on another task has costs. An American Psychological Study (https://www.apa.org/research/action/multitask) found that even with cognitively similar tasks, the time to switch between tasks adds up. This means it will actually take you longer to switch back and forth between two tasks than to do the first to completion and then tackle the second.
